Background of the Study
Community policing in Nigeria, particularly in rural areas like Doma Local Government Area (LGA) in Nasarawa State, has been shaped by both local governance structures and broader geopolitical factors. Geopolitical considerations, such as state security policies, the influence of political leaders, and regional dynamics, have significantly impacted how community policing initiatives are developed and implemented (Akinwale & Musa, 2024). Doma LGA has faced unique security challenges, including the rise of banditry and communal violence, prompting the need for effective community policing strategies. This study evaluates the contributions of geopolitical factors in shaping these policing strategies, examining both the successes and shortcomings in addressing local security concerns.
1.2 Statement of the Problem
Community policing efforts in Doma LGA have faced challenges in terms of coordination, resource allocation, and local engagement.
